Cey Adams is a New York City native and former graf writer who has exhibited alongside artists Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. He has a long standing professional relationship with hip hop mogul Russell Simmons. As the Creative Director of Def Jam Recordings, he was one of the founders of the Drawing Board, the label’s in house visual design firm, where he worked creating visual identities, album covers, logos, billboards and advertising campaigns for Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, De La Soul, DMX, Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z. In recent years he was also hired by Dave Chappelle to create the logo for his Chappelle’s Show. Cey now continues to bring his work to new audiences collaborating with brands like JanSport, Adidas and Nike. He recently published a book titled DEFinition: the art and design of hip hop.
